Winter planting got slightly derailed by my acquisition of a six-week job. And the late autumn plantings got disrupted by the new fence we’re putting in between our back neighbours and ourselves. As a result, all my seedlings are languishing in seedling pots too small for them, and I had to pull up the otherwise-growing-beautifully sweet potato.

I’m a bit pissed off about that, tbh.

The carrots, onions, parsnips planting from early autumn have barely moved, although the rocket among it is coming up pretty nicely.

And I planted out a bunch of bok-choy, then sprinkled crushed eggshells around it to deter slugs and snails which are a real problem for me at this time of year.

The fence before, during, and after. Sorry about the light in the ‘during’ picture, I’m leaving just as the sun comes up, so it’s kind of dark.

I’ll probably need to do a separate post for the pumpkin harvest in the next couple of weeks… :)

Poor sweet potato. :(

Good luck with the rest of your garden!

Thanks for posting this! I find it really interesting to find out how people's gardens are doing in other countries! (I'm in the UK.) I usually get slightly envious at the longer growing seasons in other countries, lol.

Does the crushed egg shell method work? I've never tried that.

The new fence looks great! Hope it lasts a good long while.

Good luck, little bok-choy. May you resist the predations of gastropods.
