Peas, you see

The peas planted last Saturday have begun to sprout!





Our blueberry bushes that we planted next to the house, in front of our dining room windows, are in flower. Last year I had netting arranged over them to keep the critters at bay. This week I ordered a ‘crop cage’ to make it easier for working with and harvesting from the plants; unfortunately UPS seems to have lost it :o(


Paperwhite narcissus by the apple tree. Only three bloomed this year.


Jonquils down by the driveway. They bloom after our daffodils.


Autumn olive ready to flower. The scent will be overpowering in a few days as there are so many of these invasive shrubs here.

Not shown, yet- purple violets and Jack-in-the-pulpits. I didn’t have the phone/camera with me when I checked the woods for these today.

My region is a bit ahead of yours, I picked a few peas today and the iris and peonies are blooming.

Very nice! I planted these later than I could have, and may have to wait until late June for any harvesting.

Won't the crop cage keep out the bees as well?

They show these with flowers in them, and other folks put them around their blueberries, so I imagined the mesh is open enough for insects. But, Bed Bath and Beyond has offered a refund for this as UPS said today it is lost.

I.am.excited! For years I couldn’t eat legumes (indigestion), but can now, and I do so love these.
