Woodchuck!
Jul. 21st, 2019 05:33 amMaybe two :o( At present the cukes are the target of these furry foragers, but I can see where other plants have been sampled. I’ve tried tighter fencing and nuisance sprays (put down a perimeter of cayenne last night), but will be going electric ASAP. I’ve had two opportunities to kill the rodent, once when his head got stuck in the fence, but would rather dissuade than cull.
Otherwise, the garden is coming along. The tomatoes are slowly ripening and we’ve gotten some summer squash and a zucchini. The peas are succumbing to this heat wave we are in but we have plenty of green beans.
And yesterday I found these were hiding in plain sight!

Date: 2019-07-21 07:32 pm (UTC)I've had it with woodchucks ever since the year I found tunnels a couple of feet from the house foundation, right next to one of the deck supports, and way too close to the leachfield. Those critters have to go! Good luck with yours.
