So, two weeks ago my landlord took out the old Crape Myrtle tree in my front courtyard and replaced it with a Japanese Maple...turning it from Full to Part Shade to Full Sun. EVERYTHING had to go.
I'm mostly done with the main replanting now, though with my Mobility and Chronic Pain issues it's taken longer than I'd wished(and still isn't all done;>). Sun, Heat and Humidity tolerant Annuals cover the ground while shading the ground for very young Perennials. Echinaceas, Phygelius, Phlox, Ornamental Grasses and a few others will be 2ndary "players" this yr. Some of the older plants who were in Part Shade and could tolerate Sun are doing ok. Various Rain Lily species, Phillipine Violets, Sambac Jasmines and Persecaria 'Red Dragon' seem to be handling things BUT it isn't July or August yet;>!
My back Meditation Garden is quite full of plants I had to shift from the front. The Hostas the main population though my Summer Holiday Cacti collection mostly didn't get moved fast enough. Luckily, early Spring I ordered cuttings of some of the better hybrids so I'll still have enough to show from Thanksgiving to Yule.
Even with my "issues" it's a bit hard to work in the garden when at 0430 it's 81F....
Cheers,
Pat
