I'm running a bit behind due to all the Rain we've been getting but finally are getting it done! Winterizing here in "The Dangly Bits" comes in three forms;

1: Cleaning up (and storing some) Perennials that go Dormant
2:Moving tender plants where they can be dragged into the frost-free shed during Freezes
3:Pruning plants that are either too big to put in the shed or are almost Hardy enough so that I can throw some frostcovers over them during Freezes

I also put away the Hummer feeders and bring out the Suet feeders. While I'm no longer Growing much Veg I still avoid seed feeders which encourage the sort of birds that like to nip at your Tomatoes and such. The Suet encourages Insectivores which help keep the garden at low pest numbers.
One thing I usually due in mid to late Oct is repot my Xmas Cacti. Our Hot and Wet Summers cause the soil to break down and by Fall replacing it with new fat draining mix encourages good flower production. Sadly, because of both the delay AND the Rain I lost a few and half of my Old Fashioned Xmas Cactus. Luckily, the rest of the plant was ok and the bits a segment or two above the rot line will make new plants to give away next Spring...
Cheers,
Pat
