Hi all,
I've disallowed anonymous commenting in the comm because people were having problems with comment spam. When I first set things up, I wanted to make things as open as possible because I didn't want to put barriers in the way of people who were hesitant to use DW; we're clearly way beyond those days now, and spam is a more urgent problem. (We've never had a whole lot of legit anonymous comments anyway.)
If you've been reading here and you'd like to access to comment, remember that there are always tons of codes available in
dw_codesharing. Also, remember that OpenID works just fine for commenting in comms that don't allow anonymous comments, and it's not only for LJ accounts -- I use OpenID around the web with a variety of WordPress, Gmail, and other kinds of accounts every day.
I hope this helps with the spam problem; if you have any concerns, you're always welcome to contact me!
