Making the Frog Pot

I had a big old flowerpot that got soggy because it had no drain holes. I decided to turn it into a miniature garden for my tree frogs. :D I didn't have to buy anything special for this project, it was all found items.


Here is the pot under a pile of junk.


If you look closely, you can see how it holds water, and we haven't have any rain in several days.


I found several fragments of ceramic from broken pots to make a frog shelter. The darker blue is a partial ring from a round pot. The lighter blue pieces include a flat slab and part of a corner from a square pot.


This is the frog pot after removing the junk. You can see water pooling toward the front.


I topped up the soil since moss doesn't like to be underwater, just damp.


Then I added the moss. From this side, you can see that the frog shelter consists of the ring with the corner piece over the top.


Here is the front view.


This moss with reddish fruiting bodies came out of a different pot, which I later filled with more soil and Thai basil seeds.


This moss has kind of a hairy look.


This moss is thick and shaggy.
