No idea what this beetle is, but he sure was pretty. You know, most of the time the macro function on my camera is crap. But sometimes it really surprises me and throw out stuff like this.

These little spiders have set up shop on the underside of the pitcher lid.

I live in BC, Canada and I never get to see plants like those. Very cool!
