Very interested in seeing how this goes! Thank you for sharing. I was gifted a comfrey plant several years ago as a moving away gift from a dear friend. It makes such an amazing fertilizer and I am always telling fellow gardeners about it.
I work in a bakery and can take home the empty icing buckets with me, and I keep my comfrey in those. I have one that is packed full with leaves that I am letting "cook" for a month or so. I have another that I let sit for a few days, and then I go around with a scoop and give all my plants some. I add any parts I prune off of my plants in there as I go along too, and add a little water back at the end.
I love the idea of having a spout so I have to touch the yucky stink leaves even less. It might be worth it to me to see about adding some to my buckets.
